About Find Five Letter Words

Find Five Letter Words is a free word finder and word-list library for puzzle players: the tool we wished existed every time a Wordle went to six guesses.

The site does one thing differently from most word finders: every list is sorted by frequency, not alphabetically. Puzzle answers are almost always everyday words, so we rank all words by how often they appear in a trillion-word corpus of written English. The likely answers float to the top; the obscure tournament plays sink to the bottom, where Scrabble players can find them on purpose.

Our word lists

We cover every word from 2 to 20 letters across the major game dictionaries: ENABLE (the public-domain list Words With Friends is built on), TWL06 (the North American Scrabble tournament list), SOWPODS/CSW (the international Scrabble list), and the curated Wordle answer pool. Offensive terms are filtered out, and each word carries its Scrabble point value. If you spot a missing or misplaced word, tell us, and corrections will ship quickly.

Independence

This is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the New York Times, Wordle, Hasbro, Scrabble, Merriam-Webster, or Zynga. Game names are used only to describe what the tool is useful for. The site is free to use and supported by a small amount of advertising.
